first of all your question in worded weird .. i im not sure what you mean.. second of all... white people had slavery... so of course the black people are going to be pissed... just because it was thirty years since the war means nothing... white people thought that blacks were animals and putting them in slavery was protecting them from themselves.... you should read the book Beloved by Toni Morrison... which takes place about ten years after the war... but still the portrayal of blacks was about the same

Well, sometimes a black person can't stand it when a white person is incapable of forming a complete thought. So for some that will cause harm.
Just kidding.
There are many, many problems with your question, though... too many to write about here. I can't change your view, but in several ways this is sick and twisted and you have a very narrow view. Perhaps your upbringing has you focused on a particular race. Are you saying that any other race can do no wrong?
Or maybe your personal experiences have distorted your perception of black people. Stereotyping is a dangerous thing.
Good day.

First of all are you black or white? Because of your writing skills and your choice of avatars, a white girl, I think some people on this post have mistaken you for a racist hillbilly white girl from the Ozarks.
Anyhow, I assuming that when you refer to "us" you are referring to "us black people"? Well at least I hope you are black otherwise you have things seriously mixed up.
To answer your question, why did white people harm black people during the years of segregation? In the simplest of terms sometimes when one person doesn't understand or is afraid of something they do bad things to them.

Black people didnt do anything - but certain white people did not see it this way - majority were south of the mason dixon line - after the civil war many whites became poor poor poor for generations to come -they blamed blacks for this instead of the elected politicians who used peoples hatred as political clout and cover for failed economic policies and carpetbagging - but honestly I think the best person to ask about this would be a grandparent or person who was in the middle of this

Well, the white people were angry that former slaves were now their equals. They were so used to thinking of them as slaves and as property, and not quite human, so that they thought that they could treat them like that. Also, many white people only thought that black people were lower than them to make themselves feel better. If there was a poor white man in the Deep South, and he has almost nothing, how does he make himself feel big? Put down another race so that at least he is not at the bottom of the social pyramid. And during the Civil Rights movement, many were afraid of losing that status so they resorted to violence. But, "Holding on to anger is like grasping hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned." -Buddha :) Ironic similarity between the Boston Massacre and the Civil Rights movement.

It wasnt a question of what the blacks did to the whites, it is more of power and money. Those in power(often times white) wished to keep their position so they made laws that excluded the blacks, women, & indians. They saw dollar signs when the slaves were brought over from Africa...they saw profit for their own benefit.

You seriously do not know that white people lynched black people? Burned them alive? Still drag them behind moving cars?
