that's called spoofing,
for instance , spoofcard.com use to (i don't no if thy still do) sell a virtual " calling card" for $10. that provides 60 minutes of talk time.
the user dials a toll-free number, then keys in the destination number and the caller ID number to display.

Caller ID spoofing has become much easier with Internet telephone equipment that can be set to make any number appear on a caller ID system.
there may be some web sites that have sprung up to provide caller ID spoofing services,eliminating the need for any special hardware..
I don't see why thy cant do the same to send out text messages.
but it is called spoofing may be you can look it up on the Internet and get some more info.

Yes you can, it depends on who the person has for a provider, but most have a way to send a text via the internet and you can enter anything you want in the from field.....

What provider is the person using that you want to text?
