What are you favorite American novels?

I like fiction mostly stuff and want to get a good collection going. So far I got a few in mind, like On the Road, Lolita, lonesome dove, slaughterhouse-five, catch 22, lord of the flies. what else? also, am i the only one that didn't like the great gatsby? it just didnt seem all that good

I think the Great Gatsby was better as a movie than book...
I like ..Gone with the Wind, Roots, Grapes of Wrath, & To Kill a Mockingbird

Flowers In The Attic, Frankenstein, Doctor Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, Roll of thunder hear my cry, the Secret Garden, Autobiography of Ann Frank and the Autobiography of Helen Keller ect.
