I've had several cats over the years, but after a certain age they stop purring, stop meowing, maybe it's because their throat has been hurt from the furballs over the years. My cat hates being patted, she will bite If I pat her. I did have one cat who kept her voice all her life though, she was a super big ball of fluff with a fat tail and siamese eyes. I also had one cat that was ill and as they were putting her to sleep she was purring, so I don't think purring means that they like something, so don't worry if your cat doesn't purr.

I use cat nip, boiled like tea and then I let the leftover liquid cool, put it in a spray bottle and spray like a cardboard scratcher or what not and then it dries> my cat didn't purr til I did that now I can't shut it up, PPUUUURRR ALL NIGHT LONG, JEEZE Thank you kitty, now GO TO SLEEP
