why do Americans feel the need to apologize for themsevles?

as an Englishman i find it amazing that the American people are constantly apologizing for their cowardly actions.
Its about time the rest of the world forgave the USA for their lack of help when the chips were down.
The USA deserves a second chance to redeem itself
Americans it will take time, but the rest of the world will forgive you in time

I'm a Democrat and I don't have anything to apologize for anyway. On the other hand the Republicans need to get on their knees and apologize to the rest of the World for the Bush Administration. What are you asking, your question is not clear, what "cowardly actions" are you speaking of? I will assume basted on your comment "the USA for their lack of help when the chips were down" you are talking about aid.
I am not to sure "the American people are constantly apologizing" We know that billions of dollar are give in aid, as well as forgiven debt owed by third world county's over the years. The world feels that the USA is to help out even more then it doe's. I could give you hours of facts to support my statement the USA gives way more aid then other country's do. But would that really change you mind? I hope so so I'll give some. You really need to listen to more than the liberal Media which I am sure were you are getting your information. CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, NY Times, etc, they only represent 20-25% of the American people they have there own agenda and it looks like unfortunately you have fall pray to it.

First off, I believe your post is incredibly inaccurate, and would like to know what cowardly acts we've done, or what lack of help you speak of.

Second off, if in fact you are correct in your assumption that the U.S. has done cowardly acts, and doesn't help out the rest of the world, that's not why most of the rest of the world hates us.

Either way, it will make no difference whatsoever. If we apologize for whatever it is that you're referring to, most of the world will have your take on it, and tell us to stop apologizing, as it makes us look weak and stupid.

If we don't apologize (for your reasons stated), most of the world will continue to hate us because we do not apologize, and hence have no clue as to what our shortcomings are (clueless).

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The moment that the U.S. is no longer a Superpower, is the moment that many around the globe will begin to look at the U.S. in a more favorable light. Until then, nothing we can do about it. Nor should we.

Okay everyone calm down, the message is jumbled but it is there.
It think he is saying he sees Americans say "I'm sorry for my country's cowardly actions." When they have no reason to say that when Americans in his view do not act cowardly.

I think he is saying the rest of the world doesn't help the United States and should apologize to the United States.

As for an answer to the question, The people who think the US acts cowardly are a minority and are ashamed of the country.

You know you should just shut up before you say something that ticks the wrong person off.
Every time we do something we are only looked at for our short comings so we have to wait until everyone looks screwed and then we intervene and even then we are looked to as useless.

Second we abided by a thing called ISOLATIONISM. It was the silent agreement between citizens and the political leaders to NEVER get involved in European affairs, we took so long to join Europe in WW2 because,
1st We had no need to at the time
2nd. Why waste american lives in a European conflict.

It was because of isolationism that we did not get involved in WW2 and if you dont know what isolationism is my ignorant friend you Should,

2 shut up and never say America next to WW2
3 look up isolation in the dictionary and put two and two together
4 read a history book,
5 Britain is not as great as you seem to think, Think of her old colonies and look at them now. Not just the U.S but india, parts of africa, ect.

well Americans are so stupid they weren't again the war on Vietnam and they weren't against the war on Afghanistan and they weren't against the one on Iraq , and they seem to fail every time ,,, they aren't honest with themselves and that the problem we are dealing with dishonest ppl and greedy too.
