Companies work out the details with filmmakers (money and all) and then put their products in the movies. It can be as simple as a can of Pepsi, to a Dodge. But they are hoping it triggers your "want", that it will sway your decision when you go out to buy your next soda, car or whatever they "placed" in the movie.

Product placement is a way that the advertising companies can slip in their products into movies, shows and games. Have you ever seen a movie and they are drinking out of a coke can, wearing levy strauss and abercrombie, nike sneakers, and a timberlake backpack?

This is called product placement. Advertising companies acctually pay and sponser games tv and movies to get them to show their product on tv. It is not free, acctually far from it but it gets to show characters in a setting doing things in real life. It is seeing the characters behaving like real people is what really gets to a normal persons mind.

One of the easiest targets are gameshows. The price is right and Wheel of fortune especially since both of them give away more than just cash prizes.

The entire theory behind it is the theory of peer pressure and the "monkey see, monkey do" theory. If someone sees something done on tv or on a movie, studies have shown that there is a 47% increase of them trying or doing the described act or purchasing the product at least twice in their lifetime. This is also the main use of smoking adversisers seeing as how they banned normal ads and they cannot smoke anymore in films under pg-13 made after 1987 after the congress passed a censorship on it under the guidance of the Seregon general.

and that is the basic gist of product placement.

Product placement is where a company pay a film maker to use their product in their film. Like if you see James Bond driving a car, u want to drive the car so companies want their car to be the one in the film.

Product placement is a promotional tactic used by marketers in which a real commercial product is used in fictional or non-fictional media, and the presence of the product is a result of an economic exchange.
