I know men that make their money like that on purpose so they don't have to pay child support. Try to determine if he's doing it that way to evade child support or because it's easier to make his money that way.
If he's evading, I would report him to the IRS with substantial evidence.
If it's just they way the job is, talk it out. Negotiate and make agreements. If you don't trust him, put it in writing.
Guilt trips work too :)
BTW, did anyone notice that someone is rating our answers negative if we actually gave advice? Probably the same person that gave a good rating to someone that simply answered, "You can't"

How do you know how much he actually makes? Does he have his own business? If he has his own business, the difference in the amount he shows is his profit. If you are getting child support from the 30,000 he does claim, then you are still doing good. I guess I don't understand why it matters what he makes as long as he is consistant. Once his profit goes up, the child support will be adjusted and raised. Likewise, if his profit goes down over a long period of time, it might be reduced. If he is driving newer vehicles, they may be claimed as a deduction and could be considered non-deductible in the courts eyes, so that could be something worth looking into. You really don't have all the facts until his tax return is researched and that is something the child support agency CAN look into.
Also if he is married, his wife could be involved in the income somehow. I guess I am just assuming he has his own business - otherwise he is evading the tax man and that can get him in big trouble.

You get someone else invovled and prove that he is working another job. By law all income has to reported. So if you call the child support agency and let them know that he is working somewhere under the table they should be able to get involved and find out if he really does work at that place and under the table. All Employers must have a file on someone that is working for them, to report income. Unless he is working for family, then there isn't much you can do. But even so it is worth a try. Getting proof is the hard part.

I can't stand when men take away from their children like that. My personal wish is to beat the crap out of them, but that won't much help to feed the child. Here is what you should do to get the money from him:
If there is really no way to get the child support money from him now, - report him to the IRS!! About $200,000 of unreported gross income is A LOT of tax evasion! People working for the IRS are not idiots; they WILL investigate him, and they WILL prosecute him. It is easy for him to hide his income from you and from his child; there is NO WAY for him to hide his income from the IRS. And when they will prosecute him, THEN you take the IRS findings to the judge and sue your ex for back child support (child support in arrears, for all the years that he had underpaid it), and your child will be granted it with no problem whatsoever. Also, you can collect the reward from the IRS for reporting your ex.
See here how to report suspected tax fraud activity http://www.irs.gov/compliance/enforcement/article/0,,id=106778,00.html Do it for your child.

The courts can order a forensic accountant that will look at all of his accounts and how much money goes in.
I think I would gather some evidence, such as where he lives, how much his vehicle is worth, etc and then bring that to your state's child support enforcement agency.
The IRS would be interested as well. You may need to hire a PI to gather some of the data on where he is working, etc.
It certainly would not hurt to have the courts request his tax returns as well.

First try and sit down with him and talk about the importance of supporting his child afterall, you did not have the child by yourself. If you can not resolve this between the two of you then go to your local Domestic Relations and file for child support. If you have proof that he is making money under the table, bring that with to show that he is making more money than he says he is. Once it is ordered by the court, he will need to pay suport or face going to jail for being a dead beat dad.

If you have old accounting records of his that reflect the true income you can present those or you can get someone he works for to testify against him. Take pictures of all the property he owns and let him explain how he affords it on $30,000. What kind of work is it that he does? Someone has to pay him...does he deposit the money in checking/savings account? Subpeona his bank records.

Well, by bringing that information to the attention of the court, you will be getting him into even more trouble - for taxes, not reporting income, etc. Way to stick it to him!

The only way you can make him pay is dob his *** in (OR you could blackmail him n say you will tell the tax man about his indiscretions if he dont pay you reasonable child support)
