Does Stephen Hawking fail to notice his own deficits?

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and Mr. Hawking is no exception to the rule. I'm sure that he is very well aware of his. However, I have found his books to be brilliantly done and I am sure that is a reflection of the strength of his intelligence. Obviously the subjects he covers are ones that really cannot be proven with current technology, so there will always be debate.

Was there anything in particular you found to be a "deficit"?
