Well, Iran didn't really kidnap the Brits. The border between Iranian and Iraqi waters is very confusing. It is detailed as the deepest part of the waterway and is very difficult to identify exactly. The Iranians claim the Brits crossed over into the Iranian territory and they are very strict and quick about picking up people who cross into their space. This is not the first time a group of British sailors were taken into custody.

So BRITISH forces were "kidnapped" (arrested for potential piracy - i.e. boarding a ship in Iranian waters) so the AMERICANS "round up" Iranians WORLDWIDE? So one small non-crime against another country's troops happens so the US goes around the world forcibly ejecting Iranians from whatever country they're in. Well you'll have every Iranian slapping their thighs saying "How could we not see how fair, just and equal the Americans are! We were so foolish to think they were out to get us!"

Not exactly "kidnapping", since they were on a river that runs through Iran. (Check a map!) The Iranians could interpret the British boarding a ship in that river by force, as an act of piracy.

And yes, if some Iranians waving machine guns tried to force their way onto a cargo ship in Boston Harbor, I think it would be reasonable to arrest them.

The United States holds itself to a strict code of ethics, and an even stricter guideline set at the Geneva Conventions. This is particularly irritating to many government employees (Read: Military) as there are some things that the enemy can do that we just can't do back, even during wartime.

On a more politically correct note: you can't judge and segregate based on ethnicity, religion, nationality, etc. Being in Iraq myself right now, I know that there are alot more good people [anywhere] in this world than bad, and you've got to follow the same steps to punish any individual - regardless of faction - else this wouldn't be democracy.

The USA should only intervene at the request of the British.

USA should but won't. When Achmanadijahd or whatever his name is was here and spoke to UN, he should have been arrested for his part in embassy bombing. Americans are turning into such politically correct ******* that if we don't wake up, Islam is going to take over the world
