I have a computer with an Intel D850GB motherboard with 256MB RDRAM on it. Since the amount of memory is too low, i want to upgrade my memory. However, RDRAMs are both obsolute and expensive, i would like to buy DDR RAMs. I wonder if my motherboard supports that kind of RAM, if not does it support anythingelse than RDRAM. I checked Intel's site but no luck. Thanks everybody.

Sadly ....... NO.
According to the specs provided by Intel the board supports only PC600 or PC800 compliant RDRAM.

No...your MB won't support DDR RAM....
here is the specs for your MB's RAM:
System Memory Features
The Intel® Desktop Board D850GB has four RIMM sockets (two sockets for each channel) and supports the following memory features:

Single- or double-sided RIMM configurations
Maximum of 32 Direct Rambus devices per channel
Total system memory configurations from 128 MB (minimum) to 2 GB (maximum) utilizing 128/144 Mbit or 256/288 Mbit technology PC600 or PC800 compliant RDRAM
Serial Presence Detect (SPD) based configuration for optimal memory operation
Suspend to RAM support
ECC and non-ECC support

Sorry to say but your MB is of old and you could probably find some RAM for your system either at a run of the mill computer repair shop near you or on the web...

I looked it up on several web pages and I'm pretty sure it only supports RDRAM. It looks like system is pretty old, your best bet would be to save the money you're going to use to buy ram, then buy a new desktop.

The memory will artwork yet in basic terms at PC2100 speeds. I had achieved that with yet another motherboard that throughout basic terms supported PC2700 yet I had PC3200. i grew to become into already making plans for the improve previous to time. The motherboard will in basic terms understand the supported velocity. you will possibly be able to might desire to alter the memory modules to make certain that them to be reconized at their ideal length(1Gb). If that would not help my suggestion may well be, you haven't any longer have been given the quantity you think of you have. it is going to artwork reason DDR memory can run slower than that's cautioned velocity, purely no longer swifter. it gets decrease decrease back to the PC2100 velocity. additionally the RAM you jjust bought might properly be DOA(ineffective on arrival), relies upon on the place you obtain it from and the certainly producer. some manufacturers are exceedingly crappy, constantly with the help of excellent properly named memory. might pay a splash extra yet properly worth it. i individually have a feeling which you have a foul memory module, deliver it decrease back and get yet another or get you cash decrease back. provide information of your MB and that i will verify for you and then digital mail you the documents?!?!
