i think the subject is examining the notion of astral projection, a controlled out-of-body experience where ones consciousness leaves its physical confines and travels in the imagination. I am not sure what the difference between plane and soar is in a flying sense. To my mind they infer very similar meanings.Perhaps planing is moving whereas soaring is hovering.
