It is 4:30 AM, so I would call or take her to a doctor, but nobody would be available right now. Any idea what is going on? Should I just go to the emergency room (we would go immediately, but its an hour drive and we are on a very tight budget, so I want to make the best decision here). Please help if you can, and thank you so much if you do.

Thanks for your responses. I called the nearest hospital and was able to talk to a pediatric nurse. She said that it is nothing she would worry about but that we should take her to the doctor on Monday.

Thanks again!

She had stopped crying when I asked this question, and her nose has stopped bleeding, so that is why the nurse felt that I shouldn't be too concerned.

You can never be to careful with a baby, take her to the hospital nose bleeding doesn't sound right, I'm not a children's nurse but i would definitely go

forget your tight budget ... this is your baby.

I call the peditrition. start there. The could advise you. I know that you say they are not there, but most pay an answering service to page them for a call. That's why you have doctors ... for times like these. If your ped is one that won't call you back in the middle of the night, get a new one on Monday.

if the baby stops crying you may not need to do anything, but I'd still call the doctor. IF YOU ARE AT ALL WORRIED, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. IF YOUR GUT TELLS YOU SOMETHING IS WRONG, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. NOBODY KNOWS YOUR BABY BETTER THAN YOU.

I would say...by now you should have called your regular baby doctor...s/he can advise you of what to do...my doctors you can call no matter what time it is, maybe yours are too. One has to be real careful with a baby because little things can really mess them up quickly...always choose safety above scarcity. God bless...I hope she feel better by now.
