A fountain pen is a pen that you insert a certain amount of ink into so it writes. The ink is water based but stains very well. Fountain pens are older that the average biro pen which have a barell of ink. The Fountain pens' resovoir of ink is at the case of the pen, you can refill it with a pipette and ink bottle. The problem with Fountain pens is that they are prone to leaking and are not good to use daily. Fountain pens are good for use in craft, decorating and formal invites.

It is a pen that filled with a special ink that allows it to spurt out the top and return to the pen without spilling or splattering, thus the name "fountain"

An old-style pen that is similar to the one that people used by dipping the split tip nib into an ink well, except that this one has an ink resevoir built inside the handle and uses a pump to suck ink up into it from a well.

One with ink, you know the really messy kind that gets all over the place. It has a very distinguished point on the end and the ink flows out.
