Pres. Bush wasn’t in office in ’93 when terrorist bombed the World Trade Center’s north tower parking garage. If memory serves me correctly this was Pres. Clinton’s first year in office and Democrats controlled the Senate; nevertheless, even then the United States came under attack from terrorist. Democrats are simply playing to their base, or what they think is their base, although in my opinion a great many Americans who are registered democrats are not liberals; still, whenever someone talks of the war these same people get unnecessarily heated up and proclaim Bush a war monger and say they would like to see all our troops return home, and while I too would like to see this out of compassion for their (the troops) well being, I realize a great many of them believe in what they’re doing and want to see the job through to the end.
Too much political redirect is an unhealthy thing. We don’t need to repeat everything we hear the minority left (liberals) saying, just so we don’t sound out of step with the rest of the world. Sure, Democrats could stand to benefit come election time if we returned all our troops home; even though this is highly unlikely. They would appear to be the nobler, caring, globally friendly party, on paper anyway. They are hoping to stir up sympathy with voters, but looks can be deceiving. Actually I doubt they have any intention of returning our troops home before the election, they only want to appear to care. In my opinion what's really happening is they expect the President to veto the bill and fight them at every turn in order to dehumanize the Republican Party. You have to read between the lines and remember this is the President's last term in office. The truth is even if the president signed a bill requiring a U.S. withdraw from Iraq by 2008, a small contingent would have to remain behind to support the Iraqi military. Probably some obscure Special Forces unit, that would only become largely out numbered and out gunned by the insurgents, and what a shame if then they could no longer count on the support of a larger U.S. military presence to cover their backs if things turn sour.
Naturally Democrats would then have their liberal agents in the media play down our military presence there, so as to not grab the headlines when anything that could damage their image while they hold office happens, and these poor Americans (the troops) are simply swept under the rug as it were. Meanwhile on the home front, when we try to get on with our lives, but continue to come under attack from terrorist even though Democrats appear to have saved the world from the big bad war mongers, as they did in the past they’ll simply sweep this under the rug too. When all the while the real war mongers, who could then come out of their caves to step up their game because they’ll have been given a free hand by our nobler, kinder, global friendly Liberal friends. Let’s not forget how the attacks we suffered, while the Minority Left held the oval office captive, seemed to go on and on while our supposed leaders simply ignored them; the USS Cole, the American Embassy bombing in Nairobi Kenya, and so many other such events we seemed only to swat away at these like you would a fly. Liberals were busy raising money in the Lincoln Bedroom and all the while we were under attack but they chose to ignore this. Today we are at war, and nobody wants it to end more than the troops, but it’s not going to go away as easy is that. Unfortunately if we pull them out now it will only make their job that much harder if they have to return later only to find the enemy well entrenched and better equipped. This war will end when we stop relying on petroleum for the bulk of our energy needs, and become world leaders in developing and implementing some other energy source and not a day sooner.

At this point pulling out of Iraq will only be a long-lasting victory to iran and other radical Islamist groups for all the US army strived in Iraq for four years only resulted in infinite sectarian violence(and saddam Hussein`s death). Also you never know which sudden direction Iran`s nuclear programme might take once USA have cleared their neighbours.
I`m thinking revenge(in terms of the 80`s Gulf war)

The Dems are using our Troops as political pawns, and it is an outrage. Did you see the smug look on Piglosi's face when the were counting votes? She was smirking at the count. The woman has no regard for our Troops or the position she holds.

No, it will hurt them. Pulling out is a big mistake even though I'm agains tthe war this is not right. We have to find another way to end this conflict and not simply look like cowards.

We will not be completely out of Iraq by 2008 ... it just won't happen. Are we out of Somalia yet? Japan? Germany?

Democrats will somehow make sure it benefits them.
If Chaos continues in Iraq, Democrats will say "I told you so, good thing we pull out."
if not, Democrats still will say that "Because Americans pull out, Iraqis calm down."

Will be great if we lose more there. Only problem is reports are that attacks are way down. This is not good for the Democrats. As long as we lose they win and as hard as they are pushing for us to lose they might pull defeat from the jaws of victory.
