If you have windows XP, try going to your start button, open it up, the where it says run, type in MSCONFIG. A box will pop up. Under the heading of startup and services, there will be alot of items listed as running. Talk to someone on the phone that knows computers but you will be able to shut down alot of them and your computer will run much faster.

Try killing off one by one. If you tried to kill off a critical Process, Windows will self-destruct in 10 seconds. [kidding!] it'll actually tell you that the process cannot be stopped because it is critical! However, do note that if you kill something like WINWORD.exe (Microsoft Word), you will really lose all unsaved progress. Basically, it's like a mini BSOD for individual apps. Good luck!

install an antivirus program with latest virus definitions and make a full system scan.
It that did not solve, better consult a technical person.
