No, normally if the debit is set to come out on Sunday it will come out 1 day earlier or the last business day before. Also a direct deposit will do the same thing. Say you are to get a DD on the 3rd and the 3rd is on a Sunday, your money will be at the bank the Friday before.

As long as you authorized the transaction, there is nothing you can do.. However, you should have somewhere been informed about this beforehand. If this has caused you fees, you might contact the place that did the debit to see what they might be willing to do.

Good luck

If the Direct Debit mandate you signed gave the date as the 25th of the month, the originators may not apply for the funds before that date, nor may the Bank release the funds, in which case it goes out on the next banking day, in this case the 26th.

However, a lot of Direct Debit mandates do not give a specific date, in which case it can be drawn on any date.

I'd contact your Bank and check the specific details on the mandate you signed. If it IS on a specific date, you've got 'em!

it all depends on when the banks runs their debits and credits, a dd will never be taken from your account on a Saturday or a Sunday by actual date.... it would be moved to the Friday or Monday.....however if it came off on Saturday or Sunday then it's likely to be Monday, Some banks run Monday's debits and credits on a Friday nights, others a Saturday and others a Sunday....check the date the dd appears on your statement....if it's MOndays date, the cheque can be returned by going into the branch and they will do a manual return.

Hi!
Direct debit is an instruction given to creditor to directly deduct an amount from your personal account.
Incase your case the due date for direct debit being Sunday, the transaction is carried out a day earlier i.e. Saturday.

Banks usually operate on two terms
1.Amount debited or credited as per ledger book
2.Amount debited or credited in actual terms.

In your case of early debit, the amount is debited as per the ledger book but actual fund transfer has not taken place. Actual transfer would take place at 12:00 midnight only. Its just that you would not be able to withdrew that amount but eligible for interest therein
