chain of movies?

there is 300 which is not anti-Iran, particularly since Iran did NOT exist in the time of the story's setting.

and then there is..... wait I cant think of any more anti-Iranian movies...

the movie is not based on history if it was it would not be called "Frank miller's 300" see, frank miller wrote a comic about his interpretation of the battle of Thermopylae. and the movie is based on that vision.

it is called historical fiction.

there is almost no movie that is 100% historically accurate.

you need to stop worrying about a movie that is just entertainment and start worrying about Iran and it's rouge government.

So how exactly is the movie anti-Iranian? Persia happens to be where modern Iran is now, but the culture died out centuries ago and was replaced with Islam, so comparing the histories is like comparing modern Italians to movies about ancient Rome, there is a connection but they are two different people and two different cultures now.

any one who takes a movie like that for fact is mentally deficient, and any one who takes the movie to seriously needs to worry more about reality than fiction.

first of all, the movie is based on a comic book. The moviemakers never said so otherwise. The comic book is vaguely based on a Greek tale. Wich was rather accurate, allthough the number of Persians were overrated. The battle did take place. Only, the Spartans weren't on their own, and the Persians didn't number a million. I'm certain the movie has loads of historical inaccurancies etc. Yet, i don't think they tried to re-enact the actual battle.

EDIT: I just read that Persepolis will come out in may. You could call it anti-Iranian...however, the original comic books (yes, based on comic books again) were written by an Iranian woman.

The 300 movie is based on a true historical event - but of course you have to allow Hollywood its fair share of drama. Thats how it sells movies.....and justifies actors/actresses incredible incomes.....

I dont know what the 'chain of anti-Iranian movies' is about. Which movies are 'anti-Iranian'? Because i have not seen any anti-Iranian movies - i dont even know if there are any movies portraying Iranians or even mentioning Iranians.

If your concerned that 300 is somehow 'anti-Iranian' - which i am not sure how because it is depicting the Persian Empire back in 449 B.C - way before there was a modern Islamic Iran.

The movie "300" really has nothing to do with history. It is based on Frank Miller's graphich novel.

There really was a battle of Thermopylea, and there were 300 Spartans there. But that's about all they got right. The Spartans were not alone defending that pass, and the persians, while numerous, did not have 1,000,000 men.

I don't think that there was anything in 300 with an anti-Iranian agenda. I think it's anti Greek if anything, as it portrays the spartans ostracizing less fortunate people from their society--eg, leaving babies with deformities to die.

It portrays the Persians as accepting, and willing to accept these people. I'm not Iranian, but if I had to take sides, I would probably join the persian empire--seems more fun!

Just my thoughts....

Please list the "chain of the anti-iranian movies" you speak of, names and titles please, or else your statement is just as imaginary as the movies you claim to be are. If you are capable of telling us about the Iranian films that portray this history more accurately, once again, give us names and titles.
If you fail to do so, then you will understand the difference between the Greeks and the Persians - I already do.

The graphic novel that Miller wrote was based on what Herodatus wrote on the Battle of Thermopylae. And they is pretty much the closest most accurate account we have on that battle. Which I have personally read. And the movie 300 is not perfect by any means....but is very accurate.

Hmmmm, maybe when Iran decides to be an open, democratic nation who doesn't resort to oppression, rhetoric and vitriol, Hollywood will make nice movies about that bastion of civilization. Are you kidding me??? Man, everyone who's upset that this movie disses Iran should look back into their own recent history. Remember the hostages??? Chain of movies? Gee, I'd love to see another. Can you recommend one?

ITS BASED ON A COMIC BOOK. it LOOKS like a comic book. it has been ADVERTISED as a comic book. Any moron who accepts such films as real history probably lives in a trailer park and does not much influence society at large... thank god for the occasional tornado

In the US, it is true the movie makers freely distort history. In Iran, it is the government. Have you also complained to them?
