A space center needs expertise from a lot of different area. Just saying "work in Kennedy space centre" is too vague and inclusive. I mean, they have janitors and dishwasher people there, to look after the maintenance of buildings and the food services; I am sure they did not ask those people to complete a PhD.
But even for the most technical jobs involved, there are so many area to cover: fuel handling specialists, meteorologists, propulsion engineers, medical doctors, communication specialists, not to mention the obvious astronauts.
The study required depends on the field, and thus vary greatly. And as a result, the competition would also vary greatly.

You probably mean astronomer and not astrologist. The Kennedy Space center is a launch complex and deals with the engineering and technical aspects of launching vehicles. The actual astronomy portion of the work is done at other institutions like the Jet Propulsion Labs and universities.

Kennedy Space Center is one small part of NASA. You should narrow down the field you are interested in. But yes, the competition to work there is very great. NASA employees more PhD's then any organization in the world. So stay in school.
Also a perfunctory understanding of grammar is important. I do not say this to be mean, but it would be expected of anybody walking in through those doors.
