Yes Maddux and Zito both have nasty curveballs. But someone I noticed when they played a year in Boston was David Wells. I remember seeing curves that he threw that absolutely fooled left handed batters and made them flinch. To me if you can make a major leaguer flinch to make him think the ball might hit him and then have it break over the plate for a strike, I think that is a nasty curve.

Barry Zito without a doubt. Maddux doesn't even throw anything you could consider a curveball.

Maddux is a good choice. About now, Zito might be the guy. Tom Gordon is the closer now with Philly, but for years he was a SP for Kansas City, and he had a MONSTER curveball back then. I havent seen him pitch lately; I dont know if he throws it much now in the closers role-might be more of a fastball-slider pitcher now[?].

Mike Mussina and his knucklecurve...Greg Maddux does have a nice curveball, just not as dominant...Barry Zito is probably second to Mussina's hybrid curveball...

Ben Sheets for the Brewers. When his curveball is on it is a thing of beauty. He struck out 19 batters with it against the Braves a couple of years back.

I would say that Barry Zito has the best curveball in the league right now.

I like Zito's because he changes your eye level. He will throw high heat, then break off the bender.
All time I would pick Bert Blyleven
