Hi Danny

We have a 42" Panasonic Viera.

Sorry just been told the shifting was on the Sony we had. This one has a screen saver which is automatically activated after a few minutes if no signals are sent or no operations are performed.

We have a setting on ours which shifts the picture very slightly every so many seconds.

Plasma burn is where you are watching a channel for a time and that channel has a logo fixed in one place such as MTV or bravo. The constant use of the exact same area of the screen causes that symbol to etched into the screen.
The new plasma models are supposed to have overcome this problem, but how often have we been told problems have been fixed, and they have not, just because the sales rep. wants the commission

In theory all modern TVs shouldnt suffer from burn problems - but from experience I know this is not the case.

All you have to watch is that you dont leave your Tv on fixed images for to long. ie dont pause a game or video and them go out or something similar
