I had 2 dawf males in the cage, (brothers) Dean Martin was really active, and an escape artist, while Sammy Davis just put on alot of weight. Sadly yesterday Dean died, now I've not seen or heard Sammy! Could he be depressed?
They used to fight alot...

Sammy will come out shortly, but don't buy another hamster to replace dean because Sammy will go for him, we lost one of our dwarf hamsters and the one left was back to normal and playing again after a few days

Spend more time with Sammy. He will get over Dean, but yes he is sad right now. But with a little love he will be fine. Do Not buy another hamster, they will fight or breed or kill each other.

i think of those people answering the questions do no longer recognize what they're speaking approximately, by way of fact i do no longer think of your hamster is depressed in any respect. usually hamsters arent depressed while they stay in a large cage like yours. Your hamster is in simple terms performing like his very own way. I truly have 7 hamsters, and that all of them act diverse, and one among mine is performing like yours, so i do no longer think of something is erroneous along with your hamster. And that is iciness, if that is chilly at your house of abode, it is common that he's no longer transferring. usually male hamsters do no longer desire to play in the time of iciness by way of fact that is too chilly. have faith me, i recognize. yet once you need to make beneficial what's happening, take him to a Vet or puppy shop, wish each thing is going properly although.

Woah thats sad.. Hmm well maybe Sammy could be lonely. Buy it a mate or something that could help him.

PS. I think the fights are just them playfully playing around. Unless you mean blood and scars, well those are fights.

yes there is a good chance he will be missing the other one. especially when they have been together for a long time. i had 2 pet rats and one of them died. they were together their whole life and the when al died bob was down for a long time. i was told getting another was not a good idea because bob is over 3 so i just gave him a lot of attention and he is fine. they were always fighting, like yours but bob still missed al when he died. just give him a lot of love and attention when you find him. good luck.

Probably. He was probably used to having another mate with him in the cage, and even though they fought, they may have just fought for fun.

If you were to get another hamster and to put them together, you may have to be careful as to territory. I don't know how it works for hamsters but there could be difficulties.

Phone your local vet and ask for advice/ or phone a pet shop and speak to them.x

as said get him another chum.
One thing - ensure that his friend is male , or the fights will get seriously worse than you've seen before.
female hamsters can kill males when not in season

"They used to fight a lot"! Of course they did. Hamsters are meant to be kept ON THEIR OWN
