it happened to me too...probably something to do with yahoo

Forget the spelling:you can be signed in maximum 14 days:then it expires:close the yahoomessenger sign in again using password and username and voila it works
What you can try also is refresh the page:works sometimes.

Yeah, happened to me too. If someone answers my Q, I ALWAYS give all a 'thumbs up' or 'down'. But I couldn't last time. It'll sort itself out soon I suppose....!
