All electric heaters are 100% efficient, but using electricity to make heat is expensive.
About the best you can do is choose how that heat is delivered.
The most effective way to be comfortable is to use "radiant" heaters. These heaters produce the heat in the form of long-wave infra-red, which is the same heat you feel when you face a fire. Other types of heaters operate by convection, where they heat up all the air in the room.
With radiant heat, you will feel warm when the infra-red rays are directed at you. If you use small portable units, you can take them from room to room as needed.
The cost of operation is determined by the wattage of the heater. By careful use of a relatively low wattage radiant heater, you can minimize your power bill.
"Quartz" heaters are radiant heaters, and are not very expensive to buy. Heat lamps are also radiant, and placed overhead provide considerable comfort for a small amount of power, because we lose heat from our heads so fast. (to warm your feet, put on a hat)
Beware of any claims for expensive heaters that claim they are "more efficient" than other electric heaters. They are all 100% efficient, no more, no less. It's a matter of the way the heat is delivered and how you use it that makes a difference.

Hi, i had the same problem, I'm all electric and it was getting expensive having the fan heater on constantly so i invested in a calor gas fire, you know the one, it has a gas bottle in the back, well ive had the same bottle in since before Xmas and it still going. They 're not as ugly as they used to be and i got mine brand new for £89-99. Hope this helps.

Mine is stamped as EWT brand and I got it at B&Q. Think it was £25.
Its good. In Winter in my loft conversion office it can get really ice cold at late night. Switch the heater on and it soon restores the room to cosy warm/hot.
Generating heat from electricity itself - it's one of the least productive and most expensive uses of electricity. Depends how high you have your heater temprature. I set mine to come on via thermostat every so often in Winter... but I'm guessing its still about 5p to 10p an hour to run.

Those little space heaters are generally expensive for you to operate (if you're paying electricity), dangerous, and not effective. However, I'd suggest anything by Black & Decker, if they have a space heater they make.
