safe mode is used to restrict access to major parts to your computer system, which basicaly would be your internet access.
The best way to protect yourself from hackers is to do the following
-good anti-virus removal software
-good spyware/adware removal software
-don't download any files that you don't know about
-don't use common passwords
-make sure websites are legit (look up the definition of phising)
-good filewall protection
-Don't download torrents especially limewire because they could contain viruses
Antivirus get either
norton or Mcafree( good file wall protection_
spyware/adware
download spybot, which is a awesome tool to have.
Have your windows firewall turned on at all times
Although their is no sure thing, it will help get by those with low level hacking skills.
