The Vichy French were the French that accepted defeat prior to the actual end of WW2 and worked with the Nazi's. In Our case there is a host of Americans that Accept defeat on any and all fronts and would probably work with the enemy be they Communist China or Radical Islamists.

For those of you that do not Know me I am in the US Army in Iraq. I joined after seeing the second plane hit the WTC and Lost my Uncle PAPD that day. I do not Blame Iraq for 9/11. I am here because My commander sent me here and I do my job well. on weekends I help out at the Local "childrens wing" of the Hospital. I think the Vichy moniker fits as some Libs do not fit the Commie moniker completely (although many do).

I do Blame Saddam for killing the kurds , Ignoring the UN resolutions, Attacking US Jets in the UN sactioned NO FLY zone. I was just trying to offset the minions that would use the "Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11" arguement.

I like the idea and will probably start using it myself. Good one. And the explanation was very good, too, since most modern dems clearly don't have the historical knowledge to understand much, never mind who the Vichy French were.

And obtw, your answer to david h's incredibly ignorant question (the one where he called The Honorable Mr. Bush "dumbya") totally rocked - thanks for doing all that research.

One more obtw - isn't 'peaceandfearlessloves' answer sad? That poor person is so confused! I can't believe so many people are buying in to the anti-US propaganda, when the US is willing to spend billions and sacrifice her own lives to provide freedom and democracy worldwide, and so many poor, misinformed ("Vichy?") people think it's all about money and power. Sad, very sad.

Firstly, well done for a fine job with crap equipment too, might I add- and condolences to you.

Your British comrades have probably already complained about their crap SA80's already, I'd imagine!

I don't agree with the war as it is proceeding- but completely cutting and running is not a solution- the country will collapse into an Iranian backed Shiite Islamic Revolutionary government- it's very feasible it happen.

Democrats will not support the troops adequately even if there is a withdrawal and we'll see the same terrible situation of the soldiers being blamed for the incompetence of the politicians and the war architects as we all saw in Vietnam.

Let's allow the military and whatever adi agencies find a workable lasting solution without the inept interference of stupid politicians and windbags.

Let the soldiers do their job, and hopefully all come home safely.
Don't go doing anything stupid like take a bullet for a politician now, sunshine! Keep your eyes peeled and your gun oiled, Godspeed soldier!

Marxists, Communists, Socialists, while they have have been given the ability, they are all the equivalent. extreme Tyranny via Elitist Despots. Lords: and citizens are Serfs. the only distinction is the mechanisms wherein they income their corrupt targets. they are all on an identical end of any genuine Political Spectrum. finished government and no Liberty for citizens. Anarchy is the opposite end of that spectrum. the yank shape replaced into as quickly as fixed to limit government and grant Liberty for to blame citizens. the yank shape is the only staggering shape ever written. Why does not each and each individual persist with it? i know, for the rationalization that the Elitists interior of usa are the Puppet Masters that get Their puppets on the November ballots. Marxist instructor's Unions are brainwashing our adolescents and turning them into good little "Socialists" so as that they are waiting to hate Liberty and have confidence tyranny by way of the elites.

Yes, the modern liberal "blame-America-first" wing of the Democrat party can be called this.

What most people don't realize is that Iraq has become the major fighting point between militant Islam (Taliban, Osama Bin Laden, etc.) and the western world (US, Europe, etc.). As the lone super-power, if we cut and run before the job is finished (a.k.a. Vietnam), then we will prove to our enemies that we are a "paper tiger" and cannot sustain any battle where we have casualties. This battle for a free Iraq is much bigger than the war itself.

Democrats/liberals are the sheer antithesis of the Vichy regime.

Vichy regime:

- kept 1.2 million French nationals, "prisoners of war" in detention. Would the "liberal" ACLU allow this?
- turned over to the Nazis any person they requested. Would Democrats turn over their own people to the enemy?
- The Vichy parliament voted overwhelmingly to give unfettered power to the President. That's something Democrats would never do.
- Democratic liberties and guarantees were immediately suspended (administrative interments, censorship, re-establishment of the felony of opinion (i.e. repeal of the freedom of thought and of expression), etc.) . Doesn't sound much like Democrats to me.
- Many Vichy officials such as Pétain were reactionaries who considered that France's unfortunate fate was a kind of divine punishment for the actions of left-wing governments. Does this really sound like Democrats to you?
- Pétain's government took measures against the so-called "undesirables": Jews, métèques (immigrants), Communists or "internal foreigners", which Maurras defined as the Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, fpreigners and, in a general way, any left-wing activist. Now, let's see - who is anti-immigrant, anti-communist, anti-gay and anti-left-wing-activist - Democrats or Republicans? Not to mention that 82% of American Jews and 99% of Jews serving in Congress and the Senates are Democrats.
- The Vichy regime were white supremacists - does that sound like liberal Democrats to you?
- The Vichy government participated in mass deportations and also set up concentration and extermination camps. The first detention camp, Camp Gurs received its first contingent of political prisoners in June 1940: left-wing activists (communists, anarchists, trade-unionists, anti-militarists and pacifists). The second shipment was comprised of foreign Jews, stateless persons, gypsies, homosexuals, people involved in prostitution, and indigents (poor people). That SURE doesn't sound like Democrats to me.

You really should have read up on the Vichy regime before comparing it to anything or anybody. I'd be happy to buy you some books and send them over to you. I know you guys don't have much time to read, and certainly don't have any access to libraries stocked with English language history books, so sending you some good reading material for when you do have the spare hour would be my privilege.

Bah blah balh.

Not many Democrats are actual liberals.

Most actual liberals are in the Green party, or the various Socialist parties.

There is hardly any "Left" to the Left, these days.

I think you should stay on your side of the pond Brit. Posting nonsense like this isn't showing any intelligence, and don't blow any smoke to me about you being in the military in Iraq. You have already been checked out.

I don't share your obvious hatred for the Democrats. And I must add, part of the reason I refuse to vote Republican anymore is because too many Republicans pull this crazy crap off, constantly accusing Democrats of hating America. I have no respect for those tactics.
