I suppose you mean RPG games similar to Skyrim and the other Bethesda games. Well, since nobody bought Kingdoms of Amalur and the studio that developed it went down for the count, it should be pretty cheap now and is a pretty good game. Also Dragon Age II is worth a look and Ni No Kuni has been making waves as an excellent RPG. Any of those I'd say :)

If you're looking for a cool RPG game.... I would recommend:
Ico (PS2)- great innovative game and revolutionized gameplay
Shadow of the Collosus (PS2)- action RPG thats mysteriously very fun to play... This is actually the best game I played in the past 5 years.
Guildwars (PC)- Cool MMORPG(massive multiplayer online RPG) Nice system of combining jobs and AMAZING visuals- Plus its FREE TO PLAY, all you have to do is buy the CD
Bully (PS2)- I would consider it an RPG... Its sort of a milder Grand Theft Auto but equally intriguing

I know you're after astounding graphics and sound effects. This is the era of the state of the art games! But... But when I play, I always think of good old Master of Magic, whose playability was never surpassed. In the same line, Heroes of Might and Magic, 3, 4 and 5.
