You have a Red-earred slider. he needs shallow water and prepared pellet food or minnows to eat.

As the other poster said you have a Red Ear Slider and babies by the sound of it.

I catch all kinds of animals for my children to play with and keep. Part of the fun is getting on the web and trying to sleuth it out for ourselves.

Example: My wife screamed "snake!" while cleaning in the front yard about a week ago and I came running. When I moved the leaves back I found a little lizard that I was pretty sure we called salamanders or skinks when I was a child. So, we looked up "Oklahoma Salamanders" and found a few sites with pictures and one site with a list of every reptile found in our state. I had to do a little cutting and pasting to find the right animal. I realized it was not a Salamander, but a skink and then from there we found out that the common name is "Little Brown Skink" which ironically is exactly what it looks like. "Snofie" is doing quite well and the children feed it and water it and once a day get to pet it.
