the pre inc operator increments the value of that particular variable on that line itself

the post inc operator increments the value of that particular variable after going on the next line

It is not faster. Both operate at same speed. But the precedence is different, where in Preincrement incrementation precedes as compared to Postincrement where it succeeds.

there is nothing connected with the speed ... it is the precedence that matters much..... the post incrementation operator has the first preference when compared to both.... for further assistance look this site......
