Just one of the many mystery critters that have popped up in my tank, and the newest one that I have found. This tank has been up and running for 8 months or so now. It has a couple Nassarius snails, four hermit crabs, one Mandarin fish, plus a bunch of feather dusters and misc. critters.
Not the best picture, hopefully when it gets bigger, I can get a better one.

So, what is it? :)

Yep. Sorry. The little red thing. You can get an idea about it's size... That's the sand and those tubes in the back are feather dusters...

It looks like a mushroom coral really. Dose it move slowly?

it doen't have a shell? (If it does it could be a clam) Hard to tell if it is in a shell or not with the picture.

It looks like a Anemone, this is going from the tentacles. It was probably a hitch hiker on one of your live rocks. Anemone will move around until they find the perfect spot, then they drop anchor( figure of speech). Keep an eye on the movement. If it bounces around alot, your water quality may be off just a little. Cool find.

At first I thought mushroom, but now I'm not sure - are the clear tentacles with whitish tips a part of it, or something behind it?

If they belong to something else, Danielle I think is correct - a mushroom of some type (see photo): http://users.frii.com/jrust/Saltwater_Reef/red_mushroom.jpg

If the "tentacles" are part of it, I'd think maybe a small anemone with reddish base: http://www.marinecenter.com/inverts/anemones/ritterianemone/ or a soft polyp coral: http://plaza.ufl.edu/amb1685/coral%20polyp2.jpeg , torch coral: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/lps/torchgr.jpg

Do the tentacles come from a "hard" base and retract? Might be a torch coral: (from above)http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/marinedepotlive_1921_39248364, (showing base) http://www.aquariumdomain.com/corals/torchCoral.asp

Hard to tell, really, from the photo, but you can compare yours with the photos in links.

If you are talking about the thing with the "red-Orange" base and the tenticles, It looks like an Anemone to me(long tenticle Anemone)
The Long Tentacle Anemone is also referred to as the Corkscrew Anemone, Sand Anemone, Red Base Anemone, and Long Tentacle Red Base Anemone.
