i have a prject with line of best fit. im graphing the progression of men's triple jump world records. please help! wat do those words mean?

interpolation is estimating a value that is within your range of results

extrapolation is estimating a value that is outside your range of results

Interpolate is to estimate missing data between two datum points (think a line with missing segments).
Extrapolate is to estimate data based on data you have (think an arrow suggesting a continuation of data)

interpolate- 1,2,3,...,5,6
extrapolate- 1,2,3,4,...

extrapolation: to infer (an unknown) from something that is known; conjecture
