How can a sattelite communicates with Earth? How can 2 astraunots communicate with N.A.S.A. and each others?

We all know that in the outer space, sound vibrations cannot be transmitted because there is absence of air (unlike on Earth, we can communicate with each other because sound vibrations pass through air). Then, how a satellite communicates with Earth? and how astronauts communicate with N.A.S.A and whith each other ?!

Voice as you rightly point out needs a medium to be transmitted. Before i answer your question I would like to ask you how you communicate on your telephone with someone hundred's of miles away. Do you shout loudest so that your sound can cross rivers, valleys, mountains, seas and oceans to reach to the other person?

sound is converted using assorted telecommunication equipment to other waves like radio waves, micro waves, etc and these are then transmitted over a medium that can be physical or wireless such as GSM (like cell phones) or cable like in landlines and terrestial and undersea cabling. In short the communication is in many forms.

When this signal gets to the other end (or the other person) it is then converted back to sound which someone can hear.

What the astronauts use to communicate is something similar to this.

Now back to my qyestion, you should now be wondering how you can be able to whisper on your cell phone and someone on the other side of the world can hear you. :)
