It's a pretty reliable car and great for economical transportation if you want to buy new or nearly new. No car does everything well, and Civics are no exception. There are a few things they don't do very well:
1. I'm 6'2", and I can tell you they don't accomodate tall drivers.
2. They hold their resale value so well that I'm not convinced they are the best choice if you're buying used. There are equally reliable cars you can get for less money.
3. While some are sporty, they're not my first choice in some types of racing.
4. And a Civic is too cheap to be a status symbol.
Not bad cars, but no car is the best at everything.

No honda civic is not an over rated car. Honda civic is a good car to own. It lives up to what it says on paper about the performance and everthing else. So no it's not over rated, it's a well built car that will last a life time.

The founder of Honda always tries to make sure his cars are the most up to date and best possible for the price so it may very well be the best.

Consumer Reports rates it one of the best for reliability. However, one of the civics I bought was a lemon so it can not always work; I bought two of them.
