Depends actually on what purpose you are planning to use it for.If its for work purpose or heavy duty purpose or long working hours.I think Intel is the best. But if you are the gaming type and or just internet usage i think AMD would be fair enough.

That's a loaded question and a half. I swear by AMD, but I have an Intel right now, lol. It was cheaper than the AMD's... AMD's may not run as fast as Intel, but they run a lot cooler, which actually almost evens out with Intel in the end (lots of heat = slower speeds)

Right now the Intel Core 2 architecture is the best you can get for both desktop and laptop use although the AMD processors are still pretty good.

Best desktop chip tends to alternate between Intel and AMD every so often while best laptop chip tends to be pretty much always Intel.

From what I've seen, it's the gamers who like the AMDs. With overclocking, it's like a processor on steroids. Otherwise, stick with Intel unless you just can't afford one.

Price or Quality? amd low cost Intel quality but for a home use PC? you don't need $ 1900.00 plus processors do you? there is virtually no difference a home user will ever know in their lifetime, go with the cheaper one~ the difference ( minus the sales hype) is negligible at best

For me i prefer AMD in terms of power using (24/7) cause AMD gives off less heat than of INTELs, but in terms of performance id prefer INTEL for its harcore performance but it requires a real cool cooling system..... but AMD is not left behind by INTEL in terms of performance, for example a Sempron 3000+ can compete with a Pentium 4 3GHz, Sempron 3000+ can perform as fast as a Pentium 4 processor and in fact sometimes it surpasses it in terms of gaming though..... cause INTEL procs produces much heat than AMD's and heat is one of the source for data traffic....

All in all AMD would be better than INTEL.......

but if you really want to know the difference try to build 2 systems with same specs but diff procs and campare their performance....

AMD
If you compare the prices of each then you get more power for your money.

the intel pentium 4 prescot runs at 3.0ghz and cost £61
the amd sepmron 3000 runs at 1.8 ghz and gives the same performance but only cost £25

AMD makes the best (not necessarily fastest) processors in terms of work done per each megahertz cycle.

Intel makes the best (not necessarily the cheapest or best scalable) processors in terms of compatibility and performance
