Why is this news? It is not just the Spartans that had homosexual tendencies, but Greece in general. The Athens, Trojans, etc had homosexual tenedencies. That's history, so what. Why shoudl this still stop someone from enjoying a battle movie. The movie might have some glimpes of a homosexuality sense, but for the most part it doesn't becuase dirtectors don't want straight men running away from the theaters. Right now, a lot of people have went and it is a top of the box office so, I guess it wasn't that bad. You know this is from the comic, so that is why the warriors have their costumes, and physiques, because that is how they look in the comic. And on top of that, if you are trying to portray a top knotch group of warriors, they are going to have the physique to make it look so. And actually, directors did guys a favor, because it they were going to portray the spartans how they really were back then no guys (well straight dues anywho) would go. The reason is because spartans literally fought naked in the true sense. I mean the dudes performed in the Olympics naked. The trojans wore things that resemble skirts. Clothing wasn't something that was of great importance for people in Ancient times. I don't know why abs means homoerotism. Yes, women aren't as visual as men, but it's a good thing they find the male body attractive and are quite attracted to a man with a fit, sculpeted body. I mean look how many women think Matthew Mcconahey (however his name is spelled). Would his movies that seem to always show his bare torso be homoerotic? Well it seems like a lot of women have enjoyed looking at his physique among others.

You are right about the homosexuality in the Spartan men, I remember reading an article about that a few years ago.
Maybe you're right about the hints of homosexuality in the film too, subtle no doubt, because if it was 'stronger' it would cause trouble!
Don't mind seeing the abs etc, mind you...!

In history weren't they picked because if you have 150 couple fighting then they'd fight even harder seeing a spouse fight? My World Civ professor decided to enlighten us the week before the movie "came out". Besides I saw LOTR rip-offs in the movie which left me POed. The only good thing was David Wenham, shoot I want my 8 bucks back!

it probabaly is a gay movie, but because of the issuses that americans have with homosexuality, i doubt that the director could actually make it more according to history. i haven't seen it yet, i don't really want to see it, but my friend said he would pay me if i did go see it. so i say wth and go for it

This should be in the Polls and Surveys category, or the Film category - not Celebrities.
