You can shave them into shapes....like star's one time my friend(it was a girl/oneof my old school friends, she was so embaressed) messed up and it ended up being a triangle, arrow thingy...lol
I really don't know a porpose since most of us shave anyways, but they are just and annoying thing to me, if you think of how much troble they cause....Crabs, spread of std's & sti's hurtfull if they get pulled or zipped...and the list goes on

Pubic hair in the lower region is there to prevent insects etc from entering ones genitals - more useful if you are running around naked as our ancestors used to do. The armpit hair was probably there to aid the dispersion of your pheromones to attract the opposite sex. So if you cover them up then maybe no benefit - I suppose in 1000 years time we will have no pubic hair as we evolve.

In terms of copious hair areas, for most of us head and pubic hair is in fact all we have left of the thick all over body hair our ancestors had. In other areas it has become much less dense or absent, more so in females.
It remains as part of our secondary sexual characteristics, helping to attract the opposite sex and act as a signal to let them know we have reached sexual maturity and are fair game. Nature of course didn't design us to wear clothes and doesn't respond to the fact that we do. Since it has no survival disadvantages there is no genetic advantage in its disappearance.

I think its a nuisance we constantly have to be shaving an waxing tis a mans world.

maybe it goes back to primitive man when we didnt wear clothes, the hair would act as a filter and also warmth and an indication that we were mature enough to mate

This is just what I think,..
It's a protective cover of sorts to help keep out bacteria,and infections.

I don't think there is any use for them except headaches. don't you shave them off? it's better that way, isn't it? no ugly hair showing.
