Because ethical principles often come cheap, while political supporters are worth millions.
Our democracy is broken, and the Republicans are the most broken part of it all. Dems aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but they seem to be the much lesser of the two evils at this point.

The same reason Democrats are.
Democrat Congressmen Alcee Hasting, Florida, was the 6th Federal Judge in American history to be impeached and removed from being a Federal Judge for corruption.
He got elected as a Democrat Congressmen after his removal anyway.
PS: he was impeached by a Democrat Congress.
.
Democrat Congressmen Mel Reynolds, Illinois was reelected after being indicted for molesting a child, he was later convicted and spent 6 years in prison.
.
So, its not a Republican or Democrat problem, its a political and American problem.
Both parties elect people we should know better to elect in the first place.

It's very simple. In fact, they are not loyal to anyone except themselves. However, they act or pretend to be loyal to their supoorters because of the fact that their supporters are the source of power that they enjoy. As far as the ethical principles are concerned, they do not give any worldly benefits to the repulicans.

I'm a Republican. I voted for some Democrats in the last election. Not everyone thinks the same, just like I'll bet not every Democrat thinks Teddy Kennedy hung the moon either.

Care to specify what the "ethical principles" they supposedly aren't loyal to are?

Ethical principals is not a definition, its an opinion. It's not ethical to raise taxes without representation in my opinion, for example.

Because we support big business, which means more jobs for us and our families, that means the economy grows, and our lives get more comfortible, we DO NOT support the DEM./ Liberal theory of "EVERYONE'S NICE", and DO NOT want to lower our standard of living to "SH-T" so that the 3rd world can be a little bit better off. Is'nt it funny how all very large business owners that use illegal's for labor are "LIBERAL'S", Kinda funny that they are actually what they claim to "HATE".
