In most areas of the US you can trim on your side of the property line. That which encroaches on your property is yours, you've cut it, you've claimed it, you dispose of it.
Some of the caveats are that if you cut it and the branch springs back to appear that it was cut on thier side of the line, they could "come after" you. You would probably win if it went to court, but it is something one should concider if the relationship is "strained".
Another concideration is that there is persedance, in some juricdictions, that if your "treatment" causes the plant to dies, you could be responcible for replacement of like kind.
Omer often then not, ther is not problem with either. Just tell the neighbor that you are going to trim on your side to get more room. They may offer to do it once they know you will be hacking away at it.

In our part of the world it is legal to cut any greenery growing on your side and you can throw it over onto the owners side. Best to let them know first so things stay friendly between you and neighbour.

It is not wrong to cut them. It would be wrong to throw them over the wall though.

By law, you may trim the branches, leaves, bushes ect. that are growing over the boundry into your property.
It is bad manners, to throw them back on to their property.
Try talking to your neighbour, ask him if he will dispose of the garden waste. If not, then it is your responsibility, as you were the one that trimmed the excess vegetation.

It depends on how bad you want to get along with the neighbor. I wouldn't do it myself. It is best to just trim the bushes, or maybe you could ask the neighbor to show you how to do it?. I know most people would rather take care of the bush than have it mutilated.

First of all I would talk to my neighbor. Some are human. If you tell them you want to trim that side they may not disagree. Then clean up your own mess and try to be a good neighbor.

I don't know how the law works where you are but in England you are legally required to offer the neighbour the cut branches. They are regarded as their property. It seems farcical considering you have just cut them down but there it goes.

you can cut what hangs in your yard but throwing it back in his yard is kinda ridiculous since you have to pick them up when you cut them just throw in a bag and set out for trash.
