try finding out if they are in any clubs or electives and take those, or if you know one of their friends talk to them and work your way to that person. if one of their friends is in one of your classes you can make friends with them first. or you can do what people at my school have done, and thats talk to them on myspace first, but i think my first options are better

Hey man your realy nervious about all this, I looked at your profile, get active, its safe. Boy > boy, say your >my type of guy<, that works, he will probably laugh but it will break the ice in the very least.
