85% of the time this is a braking issue and the cause is a failure of the opposite side caliper. I know that sound strange, but what happens is that the right side gets to continue rolling so the car heads that direction. Get a shop to inspect your brakes and check the left side caliper for lubrication on the slides. This is the less expensive repair most likely it will be the charge of a brake job because that is what you will get. using good pads and resurfacing rotors the cost will run between $175.00 to $220.00. If it is a caliper that won't release due to the caliper piston being bound up then your looking at a brake job plus the caliper. The hose for the brake line should be done too. If it's a really good shop then they will recommend both side calipers and hoses. Per side, depending on the part, expect $230.00 to $400.00 per side.

I just had a similar issue with my car. It was from a recent wreck I had. But if you haven't repaired your car recently, I would guess that it's a brake problem. Most likely your front passenger brake. If you're bold enough, it would be a lot cheaper to do it yourself. It is barely any more work than just changing a flat. Except you'll have to do two. If you don't know how to change a flat, you're better off going to a local tire/brake shop. I'll go through some brake technical information so you know how much it should cost. You most likely have disc brakes on the front wheels, so the brake fluid forces the caliper to squeeze two brake pads on either side of rotors (the round, shiny disc right behind your wheel). You can often see the rotor through the spokes of the wheel. You can make sure they're still in good shape without even taking off the wheel. Just rub your finger through the spokes on the disc (rotor), and check to see if there's grooves. If there is, you need new rotors. You have to replace both sides but not necessarily front and rear at the same time to ensure the brakes work properly. But it may be as simple as it being time to replace the pads. A pair of front rotors could run you as high as $150, but a pair of brake pads at Autozone would probably be about $30. You can get on autopartswarehouse.com and get rotors for about half of what you'd normally pay. Thing is repair shops frown hugely on you bringing your own parts in. So it might not be that difficult for you to do yourself. I replaced all four brake pads and rotors and still continued to have the problem only to find out it was a loose bolt on the lower control arm. Firestone tightened it for free because evidently they missed it when they aligned it. I think it would be around $250 to get it fixed somewhere though.

Its called 'break steer'. It's a typical problem and is the reason when you have break work done on the front of the vehicle you always do both sides the same. Most likely the differences in pull is because of the temperature of the breaking surfaces. Another possibility is that you could have a sticking caliper, but I don't know if you have sliding calipers or not. I've never worked on a Renault.

Hi Gina !
My Cavalier did the same thing, Midas wanted to change all my brakes, antifreeze and transmission fluid to the tune of $1,500, the problem was a rubber lower control arm bushing that I bought for $25 at Canadian Tire.
When I applied the brakes the bushing was worn out and soft enough to let the control arm move backward ever so slightly but enough that you have to make a steering correction.
Hope this helps
Take Care

Take your vehicle to an excellent mechanic NOW!!!!! For some reason, in basic terms the spectacular brake seems to be working that's why it it particularly is getting so warm. it must be any variety of issues which is composed of air in the lines feeding the left brake, grasp cylinder, brake calipers, etc. Get it dealt with!!

Sounds like your left front brake caliper is siezed. So the right side one is doing all the work.
Take it to a garage to have it checked. The only way to find out what is wrong is to have the wheels off and check the brakes.
Do this ASAP as this is dangerous!!

From what you say, it appears that it will be one of you brakes that will need to be repaired. In any case, the first thing you should check is the tyre pressure. Then consider rotating your tyres, and having them balanced. If this doesn't help, check your brakes and see if you need to repair or replace anything.

it almost sounds like your right brakes could be gripping more than the left. Which could mean you may have a problem with your calipers on the left side and they're not grabbing. Could be alignment. There are a lot of things involved in that area. Take it to someone you trust and have them look at it.

If your car pulls to the right it usually means that the brakes on the left front are not effective could be due to worn pads.

Most likely your left hand front brakes aren't working properly, only the right - hence the pull. You need to get this seen to immediately, it's dangerous.
