i am not an idiot, whats idiotic is publishing your family business on a public forum..what exactly is your reason for that? to pi.ss people who don't get benefits off, or to encourage others to stop working and claim tax credits instead? eh? eh?
typical attitude of a newbie..takin it personal and gettin all frustrated, angry and bashing away at her keyboard furiously lol...i used to be like that, dont take it so seriously love

The system drives me mad, listen to my story:
I am married with a son and have worked all my life since leaving education, I have had some well paid jobs where my monthly pay to the government reached over £2000.
I was made redundant last March by Dyson Ltd and thrown on the scrap heap after 7 dedicated years to them, however I found a new job with Indesit / Hotpoint within a week. Last September I hurt my back at work and could not walk for 2 months, since I had only been at Hotpoint for 6 months, I only qualified for SSP at £70 per week.
My wife is a carer and earns a little over £700 per month. In April my SSP expires and since I am still too injured to work, I am having to claim a state benefit which will only pay me £57 per week. I cannot get any other help from the government such as Council Tax benefit and even have to struggle to buy my much needed pain killers because my wife works.
My sons school bus alone costs me £80 per month so I am now trully poor.
Realising that I am not able to do my job any longer, I have applied to the open university to do a course but sadly I cannot afford the fees.
If I had never worked, then my Council Tax, Prescriptions and even the Open University would be FREE. I have contributed to society my whole life and this is how we are treated, I understand you totally and anybody who labels you as a scrounger is simply as uneducated in this world as I was. In the UK sadly, it is better NOT to work because you then have now worries about your future security should you become ill.
Best Wishes to you

Yes I know this system is good and I believe it is there for a reason.Us mum's need to be home for our children. We need to pick them up from school,be there when they are ill, take them to the park after school and all that stuff. In Scandinavian countries the mums are paid to stay at home to bring up their kids.I had my children because I wanted to be a real mum and this system allows me to be.I worked for many years and paid a lot into the tax system so I do not feel as if I am a leach on society. When my kids grow up they will be putting back into the society which entitled them to have a good childhood.

Nope you aren't crazy. I understand what you are saying totally. I used to be a waiter until the restaurant I worked at closed. I filed for my unemployment. As a waiter, I made a little over a hundred dollars every two weeks in my paycheck. Of course, I made tips. But every week, with unemployment, I get 216 dollars. And that's every single week, not every two weeks. And near the end I didn't make much in tips because we were slow, and well, that's why we closed. So I totally know what you mean. I make more money sitting here on my butt watching tv and surfing the web.

yeah I know its so good. I'm pregnant with my first child and was very worried about the financial situation if I stay home as I'm planning to because i think its better for my child if i stay home for at list a year anyway I checked to see what sort of help me and my child can get and it turns out I can get a weekly pay in total nearly the same as i would if i worked :)) I can get rental assistance and so on its really good and later on if i want to get back to work (witch I will) they will help me pay for child care and it wont cost me much for that either wow its great ;)

I'm afraid it is the crazy world we live in.
Perhaps that is why so many mums can not afford to go out to work,
The government are not making it any easier for the mums who want to work, so many are finding they are better off by being at home.
Enjoy your time off and watching your children grow, as they are not children for very long.

I believe it...it's set up to give families a chance for such a thing as you did....unless, of course, the income is higher than what you were making

bravo! all moms who can afford to should stay home with the kids. it makes a world of difference. the children are usually way ahead of their peers in academics, have less illness, and are generally happier. my mama sacrificed alot so she could be home with me until i started school, then she worked days, i stayed for 2 hours after each day with my grandparents till she got off work. i have the utmost respect for stay at home moms!
