That all depends upon how much money you have to spend. If you want to go all out then I would recommend Asus. They make a really good board and they perform good.
If your limited on funds, you may want to consider MSI. All I use is MSI. There good quality boards and perform well

Practicality wise... Asus, I've used other brands in the past and Asus is the only one that hasn't developed weird problems at some point with the PC.. a bit more expensive then other brands but the quality and lack of hassle make up for it easily

I have to say that performance wise - Asus is Excellent
price wise - Abit is a bit better and performance is ok and is a good 2nd best.
