Well technically the difference is that a relationship with no physical contact means that you have both committed yourself to each other and are going steady. You both recognize that you have feelings for each other and are able to express this.
But looking at it theoretically, there is no real difference. If you treat each other like friends and out siders (people you don't know) can mistake you as being nothing more than friends then you are just friends.

A relationship with no physical expressions is one like someone has with characters in a TV show they watch. There is absolutely no true connection between them. A really good friendship involves sharing something.

You can love a friend and not be in love with that friend and not have nay sexual desires towards them that is a good friendship, but if you are friends with someone and want it to be physical and they don't then that is a bad friendship

i'd say there's not any difference between the two accept the feelings attatched to the romantic one. but all great romances start with friendship, so don't try to push things faster than they should go. "do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires."
