I hate to say I told you so. Way back in November on this forum I said India couldn't win this world cup.
Despite the apparent similarities of sub-continent and Carribbean pitches, they are not. In the West Indies the pitches are more variable, sometimes more lively, and much more subject to the effects of rain.
It was apparent 12 months ago when India lost a ODI series in the Carribbean that their preperations were of course, and they didn't adjust. At the end of the day, you have an incredibly talented batting line-up, but with over inflated egos, over confident, and reliant upon the backing of their home support. India fail away from home on an all to regular basis. They need to learn to work as a team, support each other better, and play for partnerships, not personal glory.
Also the bowling has been sub-standard for a while. They are good international bowlers, but not really a world class bowling line-up capable of running through classy batsmen. They proved it over the last year and a half, it was highlighted against the Windies and Australia in the DLF cup, and has been shown to be true here.
India need a complete restructure, and new approach, and hopefully for the good of the game in India it can be done in time for them to win the World Cup at home in 2011.

To answer this question, you got to think about Bangladesh. In last world cup Bangladesh lost to Kenya and Canada as a test playing nation which was the worst moment in their cricket history. When the post-mortem finished later, the board decided that its because almost all the players were too "old" to play. The Board brought coach Dev Whatmore. Whatmore cut off all the old players over 30 (except 2/3) from the team and formed a new team with pure youngsters of 16/17.
The result was awful. Bangladesh started to lose more badly than ever. Media went outrageous. But Whatmore plead them to wait at least one year. After 6 months from it Bangladesh got its first ODI victory after 5 yrs. Then it started to come in every series. They started giant killing... Australia, India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand. Bangladesh defeated Scotland, Kenya, Zimbabwe with pure whitewash.
Now you see the result in this world cup. The youngsters (average team age: 22) is going to proceed to next round defeating India.
Same thing has happened to India. They need a total change like Bangladesh. Fans should keep their patience. All oldies should be cut off except 1 or 2 who can guide the young.

If the pride of the Nation is happy to not do anything about the terrible way they played then fine.

I would suggest though that once a loser always a loser...so the only way to get rid of the attitudes and bad experiences is to get rid of them all...and start with no youth who have no history. They can be molded to win 2011 if you start them now...keeping the failures around will do nothing for hte benefit of the team...rather you need to get good coaching staff in place to educate and prepare your team for the next 4 years....you need to schedule more games away from India in other high profile Test Countries...South Africa, Australia and India...and you need to be competitive there....but maybe the Indian team doesnt like to go there as they are picked on by the other players and the media....

Yes, Its high time India finds yougsters to take over the cricket team, Give them few years of nurturing and they shud be playing top class cricket after the next world cup.
The present team are old and they are not performing when they are supposed to do, They are only the best when playing at home. The best players shud be those who cud deliver at the international game. With 1.2billion people only knowing one sport ie cricket and still they can't produce the best..
Otherwise India shud promote other sports and do not rely only on cricket.
Look at China they produce world class atheletics on all sports and not only in table tennis and badminton.
They will be taking over hockey from India soon.
I love to see Inda plays Hockey and not its gone.
Today I have stopped seeing India play cricket anymore.

Then it will be Zimbabwe 2. Look at the team no exp players there.

Only Indian players have to do is to play with responsibility and come out with a good result.

Stop making money from Ads, concentrate on your game, spend much time at practice.

Last.... learn something from Ireland and Bangladesh.

I dont think that experienced players r not performing well but ofcourse dravid's captaincy should be snatched.ganguly is the best captain evr seen.there r many younsters who shoul be given chance in both form of cricket like d.jadhav , m.manhas and many more.every player lost its form after certain time.these younsters are also performing well like munaf patel y.singh i.pathan.the major reason y india are now out of the world cup is field placement, when and which player should pe played.this is why i stated that dravid should not b the captain.

Not completely. But some of them should hang up their boots and rest should be punished.
1.Sachin,Anil should retire from one dayers.
2.Pathan should be asked to play domestic.
3.Patel must improve his fitness and bowl faster.
4.Harbhajan must learn to bowl in placid pitches.
5.Give chances to some others top domestic performers like Ranadeb Bose

Yes we must prepare a new team until 2011. but we need one two player from this team like yuvi. irfan. and may be rahul also.

I cannot blame rahul because he did his job but there was no one other for partnership. if there was a good partnership then 255 was not a highest target.

hmmmm , not better way removing youngesters from team
in my opinion the team is too balanced and they can perform
well,
but they cant do so because alwayes they afraid and they have more pressure to perform best,
and one thing is more important that we always thought that
they will win the match,
thats the reason.
