Are you talking about their use as inorganic pigments in paints, etc. ? Well, if so, these are the key differences between TiO2 and ZnO:
- better weathering resistance for TiO2;
- bluish tone (rather than yellowish) for TiO2;
- higher price for TiO2 (no recent data, sorry).

Titanium probibly tastes better. It's in plenty of foods as titanium dioxide and as I recall, if you are exposed to pure zinc dust (I know form experience) and then smoke a cigarette (which I quit years ago) it tastes like metal (ever make the mistake of putting your hand to your mouth after counting a bunch of change?).
