my friends want me to go to some club that plays house music and i'm designated driver. I don't like house and it has a $AU20 entry fee.
this amazing guy wants me to go to a punk club with him. enough said.
would it be wrong to drop my friends off at the house club and then go out with the guy?

nope, do what you want, if they hate you for it, they're not real friends. plus i bet ya, if they were put in the same position, they'd do the same thing hehe. ; )

I would say yes it would be wrong. You have to "take one for the team" in this case. Though perhaps you could start a new rule that the designated driver gets to pick the club.

YES I THINK IT WOULD BE WRONG .SUPPOSE SOMETHING HAPPENS AND YOUR FRIENDS HAD TO LEAVE IN A HURRY.ANYTHING COULD GO WRONG THAT NIGHT. STAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND GO OUT WITH THAT OTHER GUY SOME OTHER TIME.
