Hi =D

I wondered if any of you had some suggestions of what would work best with a vanilla-colored prom dress.

My dress looks like this:
http://a1216.g.akamai.net/f/1216/955/6h/images2.nordstrom.com/ImageGallery/store/Product/MediumLarge/17/_5275857.jpg

I am fair skinned (with some yellow tones) with kinda asian eyes (quite distinct eyelids). What make-up shades would look nice?

Also, what type of hair style would look nice with this dress if I have pretty thin and straight blackish brown hair?

Thank you!

How about in cases of Jewelry?

I don't have any pierced ears, but do you think that I should try some earrings?

I was thinking of going with Jennifer Garner's look at the Academy Awards from awhile back:

Wow, nice dress! I think you should do your hair similiar to the model in the picture. Those dresses compliment updos well. As for makeup, if your skin tone looks like Jennifer, go for her look maybe? Have a good prom! I'm gonna go shopping for my dress tomorrow :)

P.S.- I wouldn't wear a thick necklace with that dress. It'll look too heavy on the neckline.

I would definately suggest an updo of some sort for your hair, because the dress in the picture is pretty, but sexy at the same time : ) So I think that will definately fit : ) And for make-up, maybe not real dark, but not too light either... You say the dress is sort of vanilla colored? Maybe some earthy-toned eyeshadow, (browns) I wear the clinique eyeshadow, for colors, I do Rum Spice, (darkest brown) Gold Rush, ( goldish brown, lighter ) and Daybreak, which is a light sort of yellow white color. So I put dark on the lower lid, medium in the crease, and lightest just along my eyebrow line :) Sorry if this is too detailed if that's not what you wanted lol : ) And a marune or light pink lipstick!

Hope I helped!

*the eyeshadows are shimmery* lol

If you want to knock them out, try accentuating your dress with accoutrements in black. Very dramatic. How long is your hair? If long, have it done in an updo with cascading ringlets. Since you said your hair is a blackish brown, try coloring your hair first in a "black cherry" color. It's black with shades of cherry, and will even out the natural color to a shaded black with cherry highlights. Put it together with the accentuated vanilla/black dress and you ought to have a fantastic night.
Why wear alot of makeup? Try a little mascara, a little eye color, a little base, and a little blusher. Just enough to cover and smooth out the impurities. Any more, the old "pancake it on" really doesn't look good. OR just go to Glamorshots and give them $75 dollars for a hair and makeup job. They do that. Take your dress with you so they can get an idea of what to do.

Beautiful dress.

I think your hair should definately be up to show off the dress neckline.

Eye make up - use brown tones very close to your lashes and to the outer side of your eyes, and a shimmer pearl above with a tiny bit of shimmer just below bottom lashes. Lots of brown mascara. I would also understate your lips, just go for a natural pearl shine.

Jewels - Dont overdue it. The dress has simple lines, so dont overstate the jewels. I would go for simple pearl drops and wouldnt bother with a necklace.

Hope you have a wonderful time, I'm sure you will look gorgeous.

Great Choice Sweetie!
Eyes: I would probably go for something like a light blue or green.
Lips: Vasaline is great. Very Shinny and dosent dry out!
Hair: Go for a springy flingy style. Curl it babe.
Jewelry: I dont have my ears peirced either so focus on the neck. I pretty diamond choker would look elegant or even a little normal diamond necklace.
Rock the prom and have fun.
{Comfort is key}
