Definitely NOT!! I'm old enough to remember cigarette ads on TV , & they didn't make me want to smoke them. More folks die from health or traffic issues related to alcohol than any other cause in this country, but beer commercials are non stop.

What gets banned next? Video games because they have ben a MAJOR contributor to our overweight young people who sit & play for hours instead of going outside to play or be active physically!

Maybe next we ban commercials for candy , because most of them are horrible for your teeth & nutrition. And where do we draw the defining line for "fast food"? Is it just burgers?...or pizza & tacos & Dairy Queen? How about the Blooming Onion I get for takeout at Outback Steakhouse? That's fast food, & very unhealthy.

I could offer more examples & what ifs , & would be pleased to help your debate prep if you care to email me w any questions. Good Luck!!

No, it should not be banned. Along with the reasons already stated (and most importantly, the concept that banning the ads is an abdication of personal responsibility), companies have the legal right to advertise themselves. Without advertising, businesses would shut down, people would lose their savings, and in the case of huge corporations, hundreds of thousands of people would lose their jobs.

As well, businesses that rely on advertising for revenue (newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, Internet) would also either shut down or be forced to slash their work force.

For banning fast food advertisements: Promotes unhealthy lifestyle. Advertisement are generally aimed at the "youth" market who are least capable of making appropriate health decisions. Major contributor to the obesity epidemic. Against banning: Infringement on capitalism. By banning advertisement, government assumes that people are not capable of making acceptable decisions.

Yes. Fast food is terrible for you. People crave it after seeing the unrealistic advertisements, so the ads could be considered an indirect cause for obesity and other obesity-related health issues. It's similar to why they banned ads on TV for cigarettes - they appeals to young kids, making the US a nation of fat adults. Ban them!

No, it should not be banned. Fast food advertising doesn't cause people to eat poorly, it simply helps them decide where to go for their unhealthy meal. If you want to eat lots of fat/calories/sodium, you can find that at the grocery store, too.
