"What is your companion animal's name?" it asks me that on peta2.com. does it mean my pets name?

im sorry. its late and i cant think right. so if its obvious, please dont be cruel.

Yes, it's looking for your pet's name. The reason that PETA uses such confusing language ('companion animal' instead of 'pet') is because of their politics.

PETA believes that ownership of animals is equivallent to the ownership of people; in short, they consider it to be akin to slavery.

PETA further believes that the term 'pet' has come to suggest ownership of the animal in question. Since they believe that owning an animal is wrong, they try not to use that word because of the imagery it suggests.

By using the term 'companion animal', they are implying no sense of ownership. Rather the dog, cat, or other is just a friend who happens to live with you. More like a spouse than a piece of property.

It means 'what is the name of your pet '(domesticated animal that is your friend/part of your family). That is, if you have one. Mine is a cat. Her name is River.
