I've always wondered about all the hype behind the movie and I'm watching it now. Except for Sir Hopkins and Ms. Foster's performances, it is a complete snorefest. Could it be any plodding and quite guessable? Give me a break. Oh, B.B. wants to become a women by creating a woman "suit" out of women's skins. Big shocker. He calls the women things because they are materials, not people. Oh, you mean Lector played them to escape. Wow, really?. I could have cut another hour of this movie and not lost a bit of the plot. And the ending was so NOT thrilling that it made me laugh at its formulaic climax. Give me a break. Please tell me the book was so much more thrilling. I work in a bookstore so I just want to know if I can, in good conscious, recommend it.

Don't you just love it when people, instead of telling why they think I'm wrong, just flame? Yeah, that's someone's opinion I'm going to respect.

Personalitites and concepts? Hahahahahahaha. Psychological thrillers have to have something that actually merits something worth thinking about. And It's a thriller, moron. No thrill, no thriller. You know how each person is going to act, these "big, ol'contecepual iders' that me's dont unsterstaned" by the cookie cutter and blatent way they are portrayed. Please don't tell me that you didn't know what kind of person and personality that each actor had 15 minutes after their release onto the movie screen. But like I said, no reason - just flame. Put up or shut up.

I liked the book better than the movie but, then again, I usually like the books better than the movies. However, Sir Hopkins and Ms. Foster were fabulous, weren't they?

Forget your opinion which is in the minority. You can safely recommend the book. It was No. 1 on the best seller list. And the movie was considered excellent by critics and the public both.

This is why you didn't like the movie.

It is a deeper study into personalities, genius, mental disorders, and concepts. It was made with a more mature and intelligent audience in mind. The plot is far deeper and complex than than you percieve it to be. You missed far more of it than you know.

"HERE IS A WELL KNOW FACT IN MOVIE MAKING"
Movies made for a less mature and lower mental age level have far more action and spectacular events. This keeps an audience with a lower attention span level still interested in the movie.
This is why cartoons and kiddie shows always have lots of action and everything moves at an extremely fast pace.
THE LOWER THE AGE, MATURITY, AND INTELLIGENCE LEVEL......
THE MORE ACTION AND THE FASTER THE PACE!
So, you see,....your negative comments have unknowingly revealed a lot about yourself !

thomas harris is an excellent writer. i would recommend red dragon over silence, though. but silence was good... i don't share your disdain for the film. i thought it was good.
