Hmmm you might like Slayers, and Ranma 1/2. These are pretty old but they are gems. Also Hajime no Ippo is a good one if you do not mind the fact that the fight scenes are a little serious save the comic antidotes here and there.
One of my favorite anime right now is Nana. It is like a drama starring 2 girls named Nana and they live in apartment 707 (nana means 7 in Japanese) and on top of things their characteristics contrast each other along with their names. One girl is referred to as Nana while the other is reffered to is Hachiko a sort of nickname. The outgoing Nana is a outgoing person and a rockstar while the other Nana has more of an angelic heir to her. If you like Slam Dunk and sports anime you might try Prince of Tennis, but I think you might die from the sheer overload of completely insane things that happen (ie meteors as tennis balls, tennis captains as the centre of the universe, more gravity defying stunts than Final Fantasy VII and that's saying something...)
